Why Lala Kent Takes Issue with ‘California Sober’

The Vanderpump Rules cast tends to (kind of) forgive and (mostly) forget when it comes to how they react to beefs they have with one another. Over nine seasons, the friends seem to find their way back to one another, even after their drama.

How to Watch

Watch Vanderpump Rules on Bravo Tuesdays at 8/7c and next day on Peacock. Catch up on the Bravo app.

Still, Lala Kent was feeling a certain way about how everyone was reacting to James Kennedy's behavior in Season 9 (specifically when it came to recent tension with Max Vanderpump-Todd) versus how they have reacted to her behavior in the past.

Lala shared her take on how her pals have responded to her behavior versus James' actions with the group in the October 5 episode of Vanderpump Rules. "I just want to know real quick, because this is strange to me that him saying all of this and how he tripped out and everyone's like, 'Oh, things happen,'" she said during the cast's trip to Palm Springs. "When I've acted that way before, I did not get the same response."

This was a topic of discussion on Tuesday's Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen. In the Clubhouse, Andy Cohen read a fan question for Katie Maloney-Schwartz asking, "[Do] you agree with Lala that everyone was way more understanding with James this week than they were with her last week?"

Lala clarified, "Like, in general, all the times I've lost my mind," before Katie shared her take on it.

"Yeah, I do think there is a fair amount of coddling happening and not so much when she was going through a difficult time," Katie said. "It was much more just like, 'You need to buck up, suck it up, it happens.' With James, it was just like, 'Be gentle with him.' I've seen that over the years with him."

Also during Tuesday's WWHL, Andy wanted to hear Lala's thoughts on Raquel Leviss referring to James as being "California sober." Lala, who is sober and has been for several years, opened up about that statement in the Clubhouse, which you can check out, above.
