James Kennedy has something big up his sleeve.

How to Watch

Watch Vanderpump Rules on Bravo Tuesdays at 8/7c and next day on Peacock. Catch up on the Bravo app.

The Vanderpump Rules cast member took to social media on June 1 to provide another update on his deejaying career: “New music is coming!” he wrote in all caps in an Instagram Story, before expressing gratitude to all of his supporters. “Thank you everyone for allowing me to work. It will be worth it.”

Although it was an exciting announcement, it undoubtedly left his followers with a series of unanswered questions: Is James preparing to drop a proper full-length project? A series of singles? Or something else entirely? It’s anyone’s guess at this point, but it’s safe to say fans are keeping their eyes peeled for more information.

James Continues to Make Huge Strides in Music

The former SUR busboy released his debut EP, Blitz, back in 2014 and dropped his first album, Pump Sessions, in 2016 — about two years after he joined Vanderpump Rules. Since then, the DJ has come through with a handful of stand-alone tracks, including “Get Loose,” “Playboy Bunny,” and most recently, “Dance with the Groove.” Two of his most popular tracks, however, are “Ride with Me” and “Party,” which were assisted by his Vanderpump Rules castmates Lala Kent and Ariana Madix, respectively.

James’ musical ambitions have been explored throughout his time on the hit Bravo series, which has taken viewers inside his recording sessions as well as his weekly DJ sets at SUR. The producer has also secured a number of big-time gigs over the past year. He recently performed a surprise B2B DJ set at the 2023 Stagecoach Festival, and he even opened for Kaskade at last year’s Imagine Festival. He spoke about the latter event on the April 26 episode of Vanderpump Rules.

“It’s kind of surreal. Like, I’ve done my fair share of nightclubs, you know, but this is the first music festival,” he said in an interview. “I’m opening for Kaskade. This has gotta be, like, 30,000 people, 50,000 people. For those of you that’ve been sleeping under a rock, Kaskade is a legendary music producer, DJ, songwriter, so to open up for someone on his level is massive, a dream come true.”

Kaskade responded to the shout-out on his Instagram page: “Hey [James Kennedy] thanks for the props on [Vanderpump Rules],” he captioned a clip of James’ comments. “Glad to be a part of making your dreams come true!”

What’s Next for James?

James has been touring the country over the past several months, performing DJ sets in cities such as Boston, New York City, Chicago, Denver, Dallas, and Austin. Although he’s had no trouble keeping busy this year, James suggested he has no plans to slow down.

“I’ve been doing massive shows all around the United States,” he said during a recent chat with Interview magazine. “I’ve been working with Tao Group, and I’m in chats with the biggest venues in Las Vegas to be deejaying some pool parties. And then, obviously, I’m doing a huge post-BravoCon party.”
