These Are All of the Changes to Jax Taylor and Brittany Cartwright's Bridal Party
Major shifts have happened since Vanderpump Rules Season 7 aired.
It's just weeks away at this point: Jax Taylor and Brittany Cartwright are set to be married on June 29. We got to witness a bulk of their wedding preparations on Season 7 of Vanderpump Rules, and the season concluded with their highly anticipated engagement party. Since then, a few changes have been underway in the wedding planning, specifically in regard to the bridal party.
Perhaps the most significant revelation since filming ended was Jax sharing who his best man is — make that best men, actually. You guessed it: Tom Sandoval and Tom Schwartz will be sharing that coveted role. However, while those might have been the guys you would have naturally guessed would share the title, it wasn't always so definite. After some tension between Jax, Brittany, and Sandoval at the Season 7 reunion, in which the couple was upset with Sandoval for defending James Kennedy, his Best Man title seemed to be in jeopardy.
"Tom, you're his best man; stop!" Brittany shouted as Sandoval rushed to James' defense. Jax also threatened, "Tom's not in the wedding anymore. He's not in my wedding party anymore." He then told Sandoval, "It looks really bad that you're standing at my wedding saying this... you don't have to be in my wedding; I don't care." Luckily, it appears they've moved past this tension.
In the Season 7 finale, Brittany broke the news to Lala Kent that she was not a bridesmaid. She made sure to reiterate how much their friendship meant to her, but admitted her bridal party was huge as it was and she just couldn't add more people. Lala reassured her that it was fine and the two hugged it out. But since their conversation, Brittany had a change of heart: She asked Lala to be a bridesmaid!
"Off-camera she asked me, over New Year's Eve," Lala told The Daily Dish podcast. "My mom cried, you guys, because my mom was there when she asked me. And I was like, 'Mom, why are you crying about this?' She was like, 'Do you know what an honor it is to be someone's bridesmaid?' I'm like, "Oh my god, OK, calm down.' But it made me really happy."
However, while the bridal party has been majorly in flux, one aspect has stayed the same: Brittany's Maid of Honor and Matron of Honor. Brittany asked Katie Maloney-Schwartz to be her Matron of Honor and asked her longtime friend Cara Marie to be her Maid of Honor — which definitely surprised her close friend Kristen Doute. Kristen was asked to be a bridesmaid but told the Vanderpump Rules After Show she thought she would have actually been the Maid of Honor.
"Brittany's entire family as I've met them have told me they thank me every day for taking care of her and being her very best friend in L.A.; I'm like a sister to her and I'm like, 'Son of a bitch, I'm going to be f--king Maid of Honor," Kristen said.
Brittany's bridal party also includes Stassi Schroeder, Scheana Shay, and Ariana Madix. Brittany explained, "I told Kristen, just because Katie and Cara are Maid of Honor and Matron of Honor does not mean that I love them more than you guys or mean that I love them more than any of my bridesmaids; my sister is a bridesmaid. Katie and Cara are who introduced me to Jax; that's how we all met each other, this was the beginning of everything. Katie is my neighbor; we see each other every day; we've gotten so freakin' close."
