But after several years of getting to know and love (most of the time) Jax, Scheana Shay has learned that anything is possible when it comes to the SUR bartender, even if it initially seemed like Brittany was "the one who's gonna change him finally." "I'm never surprised when I hear Jax doing anything like that because that's not out of character for him. I was surprised at who it was because you would think after Kristen [Doute], he would learn his lesson and not sleep with someone in the friend group," Scheana told The Daily Dish earlier this season (clip above). "So that was super disappointing because Faith has spent holidays with my family and been a part of our lives for the last few years. And for her to have no respect for Brittany, someone who's her friend, and for Jax, but again, it's Jax, so nothing surprises me with him."
Of course, it's not easy to stay friends with both halves of a couple when something like this happens. Scheana said that the fact that Brittany has decided to stay with Jax and work through their issues has helped things a little bit. "So it's like, 'Are we gonna hate Jax when you still love him?' It's kind of awkward," she explained. "I mean, if they weren't together anymore, everyone would be on Brittany's side. But because they're still together, we're trying to be supportive. But it's hard at the same time knowing what he's done to her and how much he hurt her."
When asked if she would ever end her friendship with Jax if he and Brittany eventually decided to call it quits, Scheana said "not necessarily." "Jax has been an ass many times, and he's been an amazing friend many times. So depending on that, I'm not just gonna cut someone out who is a good friend to me because they did something bad to someone else," she said. "But in this situation, I mean, I will always have Brittany's back 100 percent. And if it made her too uncomfortable for me to stay friends with him, then sayonara, Jax."
Still, Scheana said that she understands why some of the guys have seemed more supportive of Jax in this situation, especially Tom Schwartz, who notably said, "I'll be honest with you. Even if I knew it was true, I would cover for him. But I never heard anything about that," when Brittany first confronted him about the cheating rumors on Vanderpump Rules. "I've done it for Jax. I've covered and lied for him before. It's just something you kind of do for your friends sometimes because it's not your business to tell. If he wants to come out and admit it, then that's on him," Scheana told The Daily Dish. "But I mean, they're guys' guys, and the Toms are always going to support Jax and cover for him when they can and support him when they can. And it just makes it so difficult when he's with someone as amazing as Brittany because it's like, 'Come on.' Not that it's OK that he cheated on Stassi [Schroeder], not by any means. But it's like, it's Brittany! How do you do that to Brittany? She is the best of the best. Jax will never get anything close to her. So it's like, 'Why are you messing up the best thing you ever had and are ever gonna have?' I don't get it."
Jax reaffirmed his love for Brittany and his commitment to moving forward with their relationship when The Daily Dish caught up with him earlier this month. "Brittany and I, we're working through our issues. We're actually in a really good place right now. I love her very much. I don't plan on going anywhere. She's not getting rid of me yet. I'm not getting rid of her," he shared. "I want to be with her for the rest of my life. We had some hiccups, as you'll see, but we'll get past it like anything else. I just want people to be nice to her. She's such a sweet, kind person. She doesn't deserve me, let alone all this other crap. So I just want people to be nice to her. That's what I want, mostly."
