Jeff Lewis on Ex Gage Edward’s New Lawsuit Over Daughter Monroe: “This Feels Disgusting”
The Flipping Out dad shared whether he intends to respond to the legal filing from his ex.
Jeff Lewis is speaking out after ex Gage Edward recently filed a lawsuit against him over custody of their shared daughter, Monroe. The Flipping Out dad called the court order, which also requests to change their child’s legal name from Monroe Christine Lewis to Monroe Christine Edward Lewis, “disgusting” and full of “mistruths.”
Earlier this week, Jeff confirmed that his former partner of 10 years had served him with court documents requesting equal shared custody of Monroe, as well as financial support and the noted change to her legal name. Though Gage has not spoken publicly about the filing, telling People, “I cannot comment on pending litigation,” Jeff shared his unfiltered reaction on the February 27 episode of his Radio Andy show, Jeff Lewis Live.
After calling the document “ten pages of mistruths, exaggerations and mischaracterizations,” the designer revealed that he doesn’t want to formally respond to the filing. “You know what, I just don’t want to get dirty. This feels disgusting,” he said. “[My lawyer] just went back to [Edward and his attorneys] and said, we’re not even gonna respond to this. We don’t agree with anything that was said.”
In response to Gage’s claims that Jeff had “blocked business opportunities” his design career, the house flipped said that he had only asked one specific client to wait until after their legal dispute was over to hire his ex. “I said, ‘I want to get that settled first and then I believe we could work together,’” Jeff said.
He added, "The more money he makes, the less child support I pay, so why the hell would I block him? It works in my favor."
Jeff also reiterated his belief that Gage's actions in their custody battle are financially motivated. "I believe it's about money, but I also believe it's about punishing me. I think it's about hurting me, it's about punishing me," he said. "He knows how much I love Monroe. He knows that he's wrecking me. I think that it really has nothing to do with her best interest, nothing.”
Jeff and Gage have been involved in a contentious custody battle since their split in early 2019. The two reportedly hit an impasse in their custody agreement in January, the same month that Gage’s attorney served Jeff with a cease and desist letter after he spoke about the ongoing negotiations on air.
