Warning: This Piece of Flashdance Trivia Might Ruin Your Crush on Jennifer Beals
The Taken star shared a fun tidbit about her classic role in Flashdance on #WWHL.
Jennifer Beals stole our hearts and had us crushing pretty hard on her after her star-making role in 1983's Flashdance, in which she played a welder by day/dancer by night. (A pretty classic trade if you ask us.) The fandom around the movie and its star hasn't changed a bit in 34 years — and to be fair, the same can be said of Jennifer. But when she stopped by Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen on Wednesday she revealed a tidbit about the movie that kind of has us rethinking all of our feels about her from that flick.
"I had like three dance doubles and one was a guy," she shared. Yes, when were getting all hot and bothered watching Jennifer, you may have actually been lusting for famed male break dancer, Crazy Legs. Still, Jennifer was quick to point out that she did do some of her own dancing because she can also cut a rug, OK? "I mean, I probably was a better field hockey player, but I could dance. I was relatively coordinated and I took dance classes, but I never would have thought of myself as a dancer. But I love to dance."
While Flashdance made Jennifer — and wearing slouchy off-the-shoulder sweatshirts — '80s icons, it doesn't necessarily remain her most asked about role when she meets with fans. "I don't mind it at all [when people ask about Flashdance], but to be honest like a lot of people ask me about The L Word or they'll ask me about Book of Eli," she said. "And just today I had somebody talk to me about The Bride of Frankentstein."
OK, sure, but she'll always be a maniac to us.
