Jill Zarin was Snubbed for Housewife Status

The RHONY star's friends frowned on her reality career path.

Jill Zarin knows good advice -- that's why she didn't listen to friends who frowned on her decision to join the cast of Real Housewives of New York City.

"You know, it's funny," the Secrets of a Jewish Mother author says to UsWeekly, "When I first went on the show, nobody wanted to do it. And, in fact, some of my friends sort of looked their nose down at me. They thought they were better than me, and said, 'I would never do something like that.'"

With a booming career that includes a shapewear line, bedding partnership with Bed Bath & Beyond, and more, we'd say Jill got the last smirk. "I found out one of those women is trying to get her own reality show -- which I think is kind of ironic -- I have to be honest."

However, the RHONY star's time in the spotlight hasn't been without its negatives. She continues telling the mag that last year, "I was really getting harassed on the Internet. There was a lot of cyber-bullying going on." The hurtful comments reminded her of being bullied as a child, and she says, "It just brought up a lot of pain and a lot of bad memories."

Thankfully, Jill dishes that this season of RHONY has been emotionally smooth sailing. "Living through it, it was the most enjoyable season I've ever had filming," she reveals.
