John Cena Missed His High School Prom, So Fiancée Nikki Bella Made it Up to Him

The professional wrestlers played Prom King and Prom Queen on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

Nikki Bella Teases Her Wedding to John Cena

John Cena could put nearly anyone in a headlock. But, one thing he never tackled was going to the prom. During a March 23 appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, the wrestler and actor opened up about that time he missed out on a taffeta-filled rite of passage.

Cena appeared on the morning talk show to promote his new film, The Blockers. The flick is about parents who try to stop their kids from losing their virginity on prom night, which led DeGeneres to ask Cena if he'd gone to his own prom. Cena admitted that he had not, because he was "dead broke" at the time and couldn't miss work.

Well, Cena's fiancée Nikki Bella thought it was time to rectify that! Waiting backstage at the talk show, the model and wrestler had a surprise up her sleeve. The Total Bellas star appeared onstage wearing a purple prom dress and a corsage, and producers had created a set filled with disco balls and balloons.

"There's a king and queen, and you're the only ones here," DeGeneres quipped. "So, you're the king, and it turns out you're the queen. You're going to want to get some cheesy photos taken." Standing in front of faux Greek columns, the pair proceeded to do just that, striking classic prom night poses as a shutterbug clicked away.

@JohnCena is so big I needed to get him a big surprise. Watch tomorrow.

Of course, the couple also had to slow dance to make the re-creation complete. As they swayed to Lionel Richie's "Three Times a Lady," Bella joked: "We can't dance like this at our wedding." Watch the cute clip, below.
