Josh Altman Just Revealed a Major Development in His Relationship with Fredrik Eklund
Here's where the Million Dollar Listing agents stand today.
Fredrik Eklund's expansion of his business to the West Coast was not exactly a smooth transition. In addition to the stress of finding a place to live in Los Angeles and adjusting to a bicoastal life, the Million Dollar Listing New York agent also suddenly found himself at odds with his longtime friend Josh Altman.
You see, Josh was upset that he only found out about Fredrik's plan to start doing business in L.A. from an email sent to the entire Douglas Elliman brokerage firm, rather than from his friend himself. After things got heated between Fredrik and Josh's wife, Heather Bilyeu Altman, upon his arrival in L.A. last season of Million Dollar Listing New York, Fredrik and Josh finally came face-to-face in the July 7 episode of Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles, which you can check out in the above clip.
The two discussed Fredrik's conversation with Heather, and Josh expressed how hurt he was that that the MDLNY agent didn't tell him personally about his decision to come out to L.A. Fredrik said that wasn't his intention, and he tearfully apologized to Josh and admitted that he should have been more transparent about his move.
Josh and Fredrik ultimately agreed to move past this and work on rebuilding their friendship. They ended their meeting with a hug. "I think we'll get past it. I think we can build this back up to not only where it was but even better," Josh told Fredrik during the episode. "Maybe we do a bunch of deals together. It'll be a hell of a lot of fun."
Not only are Josh and Fredrik still in a good place today, they are also taking their relationship to the next level — in a professional sense, that is. "You know what, I was just on a listing appointment with him the other day. We just got a property. It hasn't even gone public yet, but we have a $28 million listing. And I sat in a listing appointment with him for the first time," Josh revealed during his July 7 appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen: @ Home with his fellow MDLLA agents. "It's funny, we have such different styles. But one of the things we said was that, 'Why would you not hire us? You've got the two biggest brokers in the world and also, the two biggest egos in the world.' So it worked out well."
Josh also noted on WWHL: @ Home that he and Fredrik already had a good professional relationship, in addition to being friends. "Before he came out to L.A., we would send a lot of deals back-and-forth," Josh said of "the best gift" Fredrik ever gave him, "a referral." "So he's given me a couple good deals to close for him."
Fredrik later made a surprise appearance on WWHL: @ Home to quiz the MDLLA agents on New York real estate, during which Josh dropped this fun fact: "You've got the coolest office ever, Fredrik. You know that's my old office, right?"
Fredrik replied, "I feel the energy here."
However, Josh remarked during the WWHL: @ Home After Show that perhaps Fredrik hasn't quite settled in yet. When asked how he thinks Fredrik is faring as an agent in L.A. so far, Josh said, "Listen, it takes some time to really get into the market."
