Judd Apatow on Katherine Heigl's Public Apology

Judd Apatow isn't known for holding grudges, but one caller on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen Thursday night still wanted to know whether the director had ever heard privately from Katherine Heigl after she went on The Howard Stern Show to apologize for calling Judd's movie Knocked Up (in which she starred) "a little sexist" in a 2008 interview with Vanity Fair.

"I didn't even know that she publicly apologized on Howard Stern," Judd replied.

Joy Behar, who also appeared on WWHL, asked what Katherine apologized for and Judd was quick to defend the actress.

"She doesn't need to apologize for anything," he answered. "She had some commentary about Knocked Up after it came out. She didn't like it but she was so awesome in it, so it was confusing. So it was just an odd thing."

Joy applauded his diplomatic answer, saying, "You should work for the U.N.!"

Judd was also very good-natured when asked about Kanye West, who infamously delayed shooting his cameo on Judd's film Anchorman 2 by more than two hours over a fashion conundrum.

Apparently, Kanye did not like the jacket he was asked to wear in his cameo as an MTV VJ — a red jacket that belonged to one of the original MTV VJs, the late J.J. Jackson.

"I came to ask how he was doing and he said he did not like the jacket," Judd remembered. "And I said, 'What's wrong?' And he said, 'It looks like you went on Google Images and looked up MTV VJ and the first thing that came up, you went with that!' And I was like, 'Yeah, yeah,' And then he said, 'Well, I'm going on Google Images and I'm looking at a thousand images.' And I said, 'Okay.' And then an hour and a half later he came out of the trailer wearing the red jacket and he said, 'I guess this is fine.'"

"Were you frantically looking for other jackets?" host Andy Cohen asked.

"No. He said he was going to look! He looked great and he was so funny and nice but he was so into the fashion and I am not," Judd said, tugging on his plaid button-down.
