The Daily Dish Couch Talk with Captain Lee and Kate

Kate Chastain Gushes Over Baby Sullivan’s “Fun-cle” Chef Ben Robinson and “Grandfather Figure” Captain Lee

The Below Deck yachtie also dished on her and Captain Lee’s new series, Couch Talk with Captain Lee and Kate.

Kate Chastain just admitted that while she may have been “the mom of the boat” when she was a chief stew on Below Deck, the job pales in comparison to that of being an actual mother.

Kate Chastain’s Comparison of Being a Chief Stew and Being a Mom

Motherhood, as Kate recently told ET, is “a lot more” than she expected. “You have to teach them literally everything,” Kate said in the August 3 interview, which comes approximately three months after she welcomed her first child, a son named Sullivan Cay, in May. “I didn’t know about ‘tummy time.’ You have to teach them to just lay on their tummy! Everything has to be taught. I thought they would kind of get it themselves.”

Thankfully, Kate “love[s] a challenge,” so while motherhood has turned out to be “so much more difficult” than she expected, the learning process has ultimately been “healthy” for her.

“But a lot of moms would DM me on social media over the years and be like, ‘I’m the chief stew in my house! I’m chief stew at my home! I’ve got three kids, I cook dinner, I’ve got to do their laundry and all their rooms and, you know, picnics…’ I said, yeah, I guess it’s kind of similar. Good for you, but now I’m like, I wish I could tell all of those moms you had it so much harder!” Kate added. “I was the mom of the boat. They were not the chief stew of their home.”

Ben Robinson and Captain Lee Rosbach’s Roles in Baby Sullivan’s Life

In the same interview, Kate explained how a few of her fellow Below Deck crewmates have maintained a presence in Sullivan’s life.

She called chef Ben his “fun-cle” (aka fun uncle), and Captain Lee a surrogate grandfather. When it comes to the latter, Kate joked, “Captain Lee is the type of grandfather figure to Sullivan that you would expect to say, ‘I don’t do diapers.’ I think, you know, he loves him from afar.”

Kate Chastain and Captain Lee Rosbach’s Upcoming Bravo Series

Captain Lee and Sullivan aren’t far in proximity, though, because Lee and Kate have been busy filming Bravo’s new show, Couch Talk with Captain Lee and Kate. The series will see the pair break down the biggest moments of the week on Bravo.

“How lucky am I that I get to watch Bravo — which I already do — talk about Bravo with Captain Lee — which I already do — and do it in Fort Lauderdale, which is so convenient for me, which I already do,” Kate said, adding that filming the series has been “so much fun.”
