Kate Chastain Explains Just How Big of an Emergency Was Charter Guest Krystal's "Shame Cocoon"

It drove the Below Deck chief stew to want to "get the hose out" for the first time in her yachting career.

By Laura Rosenfeld

If the Below Deck crew members were expecting some nice, easy guests for their last charter of Season 6, those dreams were quickly dashed during Tuesday night's episode. Pretty shortly after the charter guests boarded the M/Y Seanna, it was nothing but drama, drama, drama for them, resulting in some incredibly tense moments among this group of girlfriends and "the first charter guest blow out in Below Deck history."

How to Watch

Watch Below Deck on Bravo Mondays at 9/8c and next day on Peacock. Catch up on the Bravo App.

But the wildest part of the night came at the end of the episode when the primary charter guest, Krystal, wrapped herself up in a blanket (or a "shame cocoon," as Josiah Carter so vividly put it) and refused to leave the dinner table to go back to her cabin before she went to sleep. Since the crew couldn't leave Krystal out there by herself for the whole night for safety reasons, Kate Chastain could only think of one way to get the charter guest to move: "Get the hose out," she said to Josiah. "I'm not even joking. Get the hose out."

And that's how we ended the episode. So we'll have to wait until the Season 6 finale of Below Deck on Tuesday at 9/8c to see if the hose does, in fact, make an appearance on M/Y Seanna, as well as what other craziness the grand finale of this season certainly has in store for us.

But one person who just can't wait to see how this all ends is none other than Shahs of Sunset's Mercedes "MJ" Javid, who also happens to be a huge Below Deck fan. MJ tweeted at Kate that she hoped they ended up using the hose on the charter guest. To that, Kate revealed just how much of an emergency the whole situation was. "Fun fact: that was the first time in my yachting career I ever felt the need to use the fire hose," Kate replied to MJ on Twitter. "And I’ve been onboard with actual fires."

Kate explained why Krystal sleeping outside on the yacht was a very bad and dangerous idea during the Below Deck Season 6 After Show, above. "So if we've got drunk Krystal sleeping on the aft deck, she could roll off. She does what she wants, but she doesn't know what she's doing, so that's a problem! So she could roll off at any second," Kate said. "We'd have a guest lost at sea. That's not good."

And the M/Y Seanna crew could absolutely not let that happen. "And she's the primary. She's meant to give us the tip, so we're not gonna let her roll off the boat," Josiah quipped during the After Show.

Kate was dead serious about using that hose, too. "I was ready for the hose. Don't we all have that moment?" she said in the After Show. "It's the last straw. The last hose. Spray it down. Get it off. Get it off the deck. You know when you clean the driveway, or you see your dad clean the driveway with the pressure washer? It's like, 'Get rid of all the yucky stuff. I don't want to see it anymore.'"

See what drove Kate to want to "get the hose out" in the first place, below.
