On Monday's Season 4 premiere of Southern Charm, it's revealed that Kathryn C. Dennis has returned to Charleston after a stay at rehab. Now, her pal, Shep Rose, is applauding her for making the decision to seek treatment.
"Amazing right? Hats off to her for being so raw and real," he told The Daily Dish. "I can understand being reticent to revealing such personal things, but, I guess, you got to do what you got to do, and owning it and being up front is what I would tell anybody on Earth — especially on camera, because it evokes a certain sympathy. And own it. Be culpable. And she's good. Kathryn's smarter than the average bear. I really believe that. So I'm happy to see her this season [with her] sort of self-improvement sort of thing — that's cool."
Kathryn has even come back to town and has been bringing her friends along on her path to self-improvement. "We did yoga. I had never done it before. It was my first session, so to speak, and she did it out in California at treatment and was very zen," Shep said. "I don't know if I believe in all that Eastern philosophy, but she seemed to be very good and in good shape."
He added that this season's Kathryn is very different than the one who sat down during the sometimes-heated Season 3 reunion last year. "She was in a bad spot there [at the reunion], big time," he said. "So I think she's doing well. I wish I could tell you we talk every day. We don't. But when I see her, which is, I don't know, once a month or so, we big hug, go and sit down, and talk for like 20 minutes. And then I run around like a chicken with my head cut off, which is what I always do."
With Kathryn in a whole new mind frame, we wanted to know if anything has changed between her and the father of her two kids, Thomas Ravenel. The former couple have had a contentious relationship in the past, and Shep isn't sure if anything has changed between them. "I don't know. I mean, what a volatile pair. So I don't know where their relationship stands, currently," he said. "But I hope it's good. They can't really avoid having a relationship, now can they?"
