On Thursday (December 31), Kathy Wakile confirmed that her son, Joseph, was in a car accident over the hoildays while the family was moving into their new home in Franklin Lakes, NJ, adding that the teen luckily walked away unharmed. The Real Housewives of New Jersey mom tells The Daily Dish that the crash happened after Joseph swerved on the road to avoid a deer which caused him to crash into a tree.

"The Jeeps roll, so he rolled it over," Kathy said. "He climbed out and got out, thankfully, without a scratch. And the deer was safe and Joseph was safe. And we met every rescue worker in the neighborhood and they were so wonderful. And they welcomed us to the neighborhood with a quick response and made sure everything is OK and, thankfully, he's OK. What a way to end an old year."

Kathy posted photos of the crash to Instagram. The scene looked scary, but Joseph is handling it just fine in the days since the accident. "He's OK, he was a little shaken up," she said, noting that the accident does "put everything into perspective." "[You have to] just slow it down and take a breather and be thankful for all your blessings and your health and the safety of your family," she said.

And if you think that Joseph might be feeling nervous to get back on the road again, Kathy says that he was driving again later that day. "We made him drive that evening, As soon as we knew he was OK, we made him get back in the car right away," she said. "He's a good driver; he's a great driver and [there's] no sense in making him get hung up on it."
