Lisa Vanderpump Reacts to Katie and Tom’s Divorce as They Step Out to Support Her in Las Vegas
Vanderpump Rules’ Tom Sandoval also shares how he’s managing in the wake of Katie Maloney-Schwartz and Tom Schwartz's split.
Lisa Vanderpump is opening up about Katie Maloney-Schwartz and Tom Schwartz's split, just as the former couple both stepped out to show their support for LVP at the grand opening event for Vanderpump à Paris in Las Vegas.
"Obviously, I'm very invested in them as a couple, so it was heartbreaking to hear. I'm very close to them," she told Page Six at the event. As fans will recall, Lisa officiated Tom and Katie's 2016 wedding, featured on Vanderpump Rules (they later tied the knot again in Las Vegas, which was also featured on the show). And in an interview with ET, Lisa reflected on the nuptials. "I officiated that wedding," she said. "I wrote those vows. They just had one job, to stick to them, right? ... I love them. Hopefully we'll get deeper into that as time goes on and we'll see what transpires."
Katie and Tom announced they were separating in mid-March, and days later Katie officially filed for divorce. However, Lisa noted when speaking to Page Six that she isn't ready to call it a day on the pair. "Let's hold our breath and see what happens with them," she said.
Lisa also shared her thoughts on the split, noting to Us Weekly that she believes living through "the suspended reality" of the past couple years may have affected the couple. "I've been married for 39 years, and there's ups and downs,” she said. "Sometimes you wanna strangle them. Anybody goes, 'We've got the perfect marriage,' they're lying. Or, they're married to something that doesn't exist. Cause I've never seen it."
Katie and Tom were among several Vanderpump Rules cast members who showed up in Sin City for Lisa's restaurant opening. Tom Sandoval was also in attendance, and once again commented on what it's been like to see his two pals go through this next chapter when speaking to Us Weekly. "It's not easy. For me, personally, as a friend, like, seeing that happen, it crushes me... They seem to be doing pretty well, considering," he said, adding, "I had no idea. Like, totally knocked the cool out of my walk."
