Kim Zolciak-Biermann Was "Not Prepared" for the Health Scare That Sent Kroy Biermann Straight to the Hospital
The Don't Be Tardy mom used the story as a PSA on her podcast: "It's no joke."
Kim Zociak-Biermann is with the rest of us on this one: "Talking about doing number two, poop, is just awkward and weird and something no one ever wants to talk about," she shared in a recent episode of her podcast, House of Kim With Kim Zolciak. Still, the Don't Be Tardy mama felt compelled to tackle the messy topic head-on, after her husband Kroy Biermann experienced a stool-related health scare. In fact, the title of the October 10 episode of Kim's podcast was "Don't Pooh Pooh Your Health." Kind of catchy, isn't it?
Here's what happened: On a recent Friday afternoon, Kroy called Kim into the bathroom to take a look at his stool, which — frighteningly and unexpectedly — had blood in it. Here's what Kim had to say about the experience: "I was not prepared for what I was about to see, y'all," she shared. "It was not just a little bit [of blood.] It was a lot. It wasn't a drop. The only reason why I'm sharing this with you guys is because I want you guys to understand that any time you see blood in your stool, it's no joke. It could be something as minor as a hemorrhoid or as big as the Big C. If you ever see blood, it's a warning sign for something and I can't stress that to you enough."
After rushing Kroy to a local hospital to meet with a doctor, it was determined that he would undergo a colonscopy the following Monday, and use the weekend to prep. As Kroy later revealed, he found the preparation more taxing than the procedure itself. Not only did he have to fast the entire day before; he also had to drink about a gallon of a clear, syrup-y liquid that wasn't exactly as delicious as a chocolate chip cookie cake. Plus, there's this aspect of prep: "Excuse my French, but you're sh---ing all day," Kim shared.
In the end, it turns out that Kroy had internal hemorrhoids. Still, he's glad that he got the situation checked out. "If you feel like something's off, trust your intuition and go figure it out. As much as I f---ing didn't want to do it, I knew that I had to [go to the doctor] because I got a warning sign," he told the podcast audience.
Kim added: "Take care of yourself. You only have one body; that's all you have. I don't take anything lightly. I get everything looked at, even if I may feel a little crazy, I still get it looked at ... You really have to be on top of your body."
And, the couple even got a, um, unique keepsake from the whole experience. "We even got some pictures to take home of [Kroy's] internal a--hole to take home!" Kim said cheerfully. "We can make a joke about it now."
