Kyle Cooke and Amanda Batula had a “practice wedding” in the April 22 episode of Summer House so that they could hold a celebration even after having to postpone their real wedding, and it was pretty epic. In fact, during Part 1 of the Season 5 reunion, the couple even joked that if it wouldn’t have upset their parents, it would have been “awesome” to get married then and there.

Now, it looks like the fake event has actually had a major influence on their nuptial plans. Kyle and Amanda have made a big change to their wedding, and they shared the news in the April 30 episode of The Daily Dish podcast

After having to change plans multiple times throughout their engagement, Kyle and Amanda said that their big day has been moved once again. “It is not in June,” Amanda said, explaining that they were faced with making a decision during the winter when “the vaccine didn’t seem to be progressing as quickly as we thought it would. We just decided to get out of our [wedding venue] contract and push it back again.”

“Our venue was indoors. There was no outdoor option,” Amanda explained. “Our minimum is 225. We couldn’t guarantee that we could have 225 people inside a venue on June 18. So we were like, let’s do it in my parents’ backyard in September.”

“We were well aware that most venues are booking through 2022 right now because of the backlog. So there wasn’t even an option to start our fourth venue search,” said Kyle, with Amanda adding, “I didn’t want to.”

Amanda even said that the idea to have the wedding in her parents’ backyard came from a dream she had.

“It was very weird. And I was like, why don’t we do it in their backyard? They have this beautiful plot of land. It’s just like that epic party that we want to have," Amanda said. "And we just had essentially a backyard wedding on Summer House. It wasn’t anything that was over the top, and I feel like that was that push for me to say, ‘OK, let’s do this in my parents’ backyard.’ We can do the same thing, and it’s going to be such an amazing night.”

Although the couple has quickly discovered that planning a big backyard wedding is more work and a bigger expense than they originally thought, Kyle joked that there’s one person who could help make it perfect. “We just need Robert,” he said, referring to Danielle Olivera’s talented chef boyfriend, who put together an incredible menu for their pretend wedding in the Hamptons.

The Summer House Season 5 reunion continues with Part 2 at a special time on Thursday, May 6 at 10:15/9:15c.
