Lady Gaga Reveals Why She Cast Andy and the Housewives
The pop queen calls into 'Watch What Happens Live' to share the meaning of "G.U.Y."
When Lady Gaga stopped by the Watch What Happens Live Clubhouse last fall, it was clear that she and Andy Cohen hit it off—but who knew Andy would become a part of the ARTPOP machine?!
The last time Gaga hung out with Andy, she got delightfully sauced, delivered some real talk and peed in a trash can. She's returned the favor by casting the Beverly Hills Housewives and Andy Cohen in her new music video "G.U.Y." The clip features Andy Cohen playing the role of Zeus, the Greek God. We know the Housewives may worship Andy, but what was Gaga's reasoning for deifying him? She called into Watch What Happens Live last night to explain.

"Well, in the story, where I am beginning as a Phoenix, rising from the ashes, I go to the Hearst Castle in order to be brought back to life," she says. "As the people from Venus dump me into the Neptune pool, I am snapped back into reality by reality television! We wanted you to play Zeus, or God in the sky, because I feel as though reality TV and reality media really run our lives. It's really an image of how I think pop culture is today. You are God, obviously."
According to Gaga, working with the Housewives was one of the best parts (and biggest shockers) of the whole production.
"I was actually surprised!" she says. "We were waiting for some real eye tear-outs with some press-ons, but that didn't happen."
For his part, Andy is still overwhelmed about the experience. "Being directed by Gaga was completely surreal," Andy told the Dish this weekend. "We were singing the words to her song together. She was giving me attitude, direction: 'Be sexy! Be strong!'" And Kyle Richards revealed details about filming with Gaga behind the scenes. "She went through the wardrobe that she wanted Lisa and me to wear," Kyle said. "She kept saying she wanted us to feel beautiful. She had a very specific idea of how she wanted us to look. She was so sweet, thoughtful and engaging. The first day of shooting was supposed to be a few hours but ended up being more like 12 because she is such a perfectionist."
What do you think of "G.U.Y."? Does Andy make a great celestial floating head or what? Let us know in the comments.
