The Real Housewives of Miami cast member was married to the NBA player for 19 years.
The Real Housewives of Miami cast member was married to the NBA great for nearly 20 years, during which time the couple welcomed sons Scotty Jr., Preston, and Justin, as well as their daughter, Sophia. Then, in October 2016, they both filed for divorce. At the time, Larsa's reps told E! Online that it was a mutual decision.
Now, in a new episode of Real Housewives of Miami, Larsa is sharing that she felt "trapped" during their nearly 20 years together.
"There's nothing worse than being in a relationship where you can't leave because you are financially stuck because of your partner. That's like, the worst," she said in a confessional. When a producer asked if that's how she felt with Scottie, she replied, "Yeah, of course."
When did Larsa and Scottie file for divorce?
Larsa and Scottie both filed for divorce in October 2016.
"After careful consideration and 19 years together, Larsa and Scottie have each filed for dissolution of their marriage," a rep for Larsa told E! Online. "Although they are no longer to be married, Larsa remains hopeful that she and Scottie will always do what is best for their 4 beautiful children and jointly raise them with love and respect.
"She would like to thank everyone for their understanding and kindly ask for privacy from the media during this difficult time of transition for her family," the statement concluded.
Scottie's reps also stated the split was mutual.
"This is a very difficult time for Mr. Pippen. He is hopeful that the divorce will be swift and amicable. We are respecting his request to protect his privacy and the privacy of his children during the dissolution of marriage proceedings," his statement read.
The couple seemingly tried to reconcile in February 2017, when they were spotted out with LL Cool J, Kourtney Kardashian, and other friends in Los Angeles. A source shared with E! Online that Larsa and Scottie wanted to work on their marriage, saying, "She has kids with him so it's not like you just up and throw things away. She was always willing to work on their marriage with him. She definitely still loves him. There's still hope."
But their efforts to reconcile were for naught as Larsa later re-filed for divorce in November 2018.
The divorce was finalized in December 2021, five years years after the initial filing.
For his part, Scottie has seemingly refrained from publicly discussing the divorce.
