Season 17 Top Chef's Last Chance Kitchen Ninth Challenge Will Give You Brunch FOMO
Host Tom Colicchio challenges these all star chefs to create three separate egg dishes.
Tom Colicchio just switched things up on Last Chance Kitchen. Following the May 14 episode of Bravo’s Top Chef, the legendary host gave two all star chefs 30 minutes to create three separate dishes.
This week, Lee Anne Wong enters the Last Chance Kitchen after failing to impress the judges during a brunch challenge. Lee Anne was particularly disappointed with her performance, as she has an island-style brunch house, Koko Head Cafe, in Hawaii. However, she did previously make it back onto Top Chef after winning a whopping five rounds of Last Chance Kitchen, so she was determined to beat last week’s winner, Kevin Gillespie.
“I’m here for my family, for our future. It’s not over yet,” said Lee Anne. “This is my last chance to get back in the game and get in the running for $250,000. Kevin is probably one of the fiercest competitors in the kitchen. This is not going to be easy.”
Lee Anne and Kevin were given 30 minutes to complete three rounds of the challenge. First, they had to cook an over easy egg. Next, they were asked to make a French omelette, with no fillings or toppings; “Just a beautiful, fluffy, perfect French omelette,” according to Tom. Finally, they had to make eggs Benedict.
“I can’t let myself become mentally weak,” said Kevin. “Lee Anne literally has a place that cooks eggs all the time, so the eggs don’t stack in my favor in this challenge.”
Which all star chef blew Tom away with their ability to cook delicious eggs, getting one step closer to a shot at redemption? Check out the video above to find out.
