Lisa Vanderpump on Leaving RHOBH: "I Just Said, 'I Can't Do This Anymore'"
"It was such a brutal season for me," The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills restaurateur said.
Following the announcement that she would not be returning to The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, Lisa Vanderpump is sharing a bit more about how she knew now was the right time to step away from the series.
Lisa opened up about her departure from RHOBH after nine seasons on the show during an interview on RuPaul on Monday. "It was such a brutal season for me, and it was at a time where I was floundering. And everybody always says, 'Oh, you look like you've got your life together.' But I started that show this season two or three months after my brother passed, and I just wasn't in the right space. And I actually did say, and we've talked about it with Andy [Cohen] on Watch What Happens Live, he said, 'I wish I'd given you the year off,'" Lisa explained. "I just wasn't as prepared. I found I couldn't deal with something that I could normally deal with. And so it just went on, and then it was cumulative. And in the end, I just said, 'I can't do this anymore. I just can't.'"
Lisa previously confirmed her exit from RHOBH in an interview with DailyMailTV published on June 4. "I think they've made it pretty impossible for me to go back frankly," Lisa said, before confirming that "no," she will not be returning to the series.
The RHOBH restaurateur said on RuPaul that she had felt "divisiveness" among the 90210 ladies. "I absolutely detest it. I think you should just focus on yourself and being the best that you can be, you know? I never, ever think like that," she said. "Of course, the show is based on fun and a few snarky things, but when it gets really vicious and trying to pull each other down, I just don't support that at all."
Lisa said that she does her best not to get caught up in drama like that. "Oh, it's not difficult for me to resist it," she told RuPaul. "I'm not gonna roll down in the dirt with that. I'm just not gonna do it. That's not the way I've lived my life, that's not the way I've raised my children, and it's not an example I want to set, never."
Andy confirmed that Lisa did not attend the taping of the RHOBH Season 9 reunion earlier this month. "The reunion is going great. It's major. Lisa Vanderpump's not here," he said from the set of the reunion during a live chat with Anderson Cooper on Instagram. "There's major things happening... there's trouble afoot in Beverly Hills."
Lisa had hinted the day before the reunion that she would likely not be attending. "The objective of the reunion is to reunite, right? And I have no inclination to reunite with the women who've been harassing me for 10 months now," she told DailyMailTV.
Lisa did, however, have one final message for the RHOBH crew when she sat down with us for The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Season 9 After Show. Check it out, above.
