Lisa Vanderpump’s Dog Rumpy Has Passed Away: “We Will Always Love Him”
The Vanderpump Rules boss mourns the loss of her beloved dog and shared a sweet tribute to her pet.
Lisa Vanderpump is mourning the loss of her dog, Rumpy. The Vanderpump Rules boss shared the sad news on Instagram, along with a series of sweet photos of her beloved pet.
"What a lovely boy. Rumpy passed away from cancer a few hours after we returned from London...he waited for us," Lisa wrote in the caption of her December 1 post, adding, "We will always love him."
The sad news follows the recent passing of Lisa's other golden retriever, Avery, several months ago. As Lisa previously shared, Rumpy and Avery had developed a very close bond with each other. "[Avery] was Rumpy’s love, adopted at 4, she never heard 'no,' was the best dog ever, we were with [her] until the end as she went to sleep on her own," she wrote at the time. "Love you furry bear R.I.P."
Earlier this year, Lisa took to Instagram to share a sweet photo of Rumpy and Avery cuddling together. "Why does this make me so happy?" she wrote in the May 30 post, adding, "[Rumpy] found his true love, an older lady with problems, but it’s been a lasting love."
Several months ago, Lisa had opened up about the health issues that both Rumpy and Avery were struggling with at the time, writing in a September 17 Twitter post, "It’s been a little overwhelming as my two retrievers are both sick, Avery is 13 now and struggling, Rumpy is 9, cancer." She also shared updates on her other pets, including two of her rescue dogs, Puffy and Binky, whom she says are "doing fine [though]."
Previously, Lisa — who founded the West Hollywood rescue center, Vanderpump Dogs, in 2016 — has been candid about the pain of saying goodbye to her furry companions. Last December, Lisa lost her beloved Pomeranian, Giggy, and shared the sadness of losing her dog in an interview with Bravo Insider, saying, in part, "He was our life."
