Luann de Lesseps Has the Most Luann Clapback at the New York Housewives' Comments About Her Sobriety
Don't come for The Real Housewives of New York City countess' cabaret.
Luann de Lesseps may not be on speaking terms with everyone this season of The Real Housewives of New York City, but that doesn't mean she hasn't been a major topic of conversation among the ladies. Since the season kicked off shortly after Luann returned home from her second visit to rehab, the New York Housewives had a lot to say about her stay and her sobriety.
And Luann had a lot to say to them right back when she appeared on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen on Wednesday night (clip above). She first clarified the duration of her second visit to rehab. "I stayed for three weeks and I came out and went on stage because it makes me so happy to do my cabaret show, and that's where I wanted to be," Luann explained. "And the love from the fans is just the biggest support that I can possibly get."
Luann also addressed concerns that the venues in which she performs her cabaret shows provide a "triggering environment" when it comes to her sobriety. "Walking out on the street, being in this Clubhouse, everywhere is a trigger, so no, not at all," she said. "And you know what, I love watching [the audience] have a good time, and I'm onstage working. It's work, what I do, but I love it. It gives me great joy."
Luann opened up about her relapse during the RHONY Season 11 premiere, sharing that it stemmed from her legal issues with her family last year. Now her children, daughter Victoria and son Noel, are her main inspiration for maintaining her sobriety. "My kids and that they see me sober is so great," Luann said with tears in her eyes to friend Barbara Kavovit during the episode. "I can't slip again."
