Ryan Serhant Says Luis D. Ortiz's Retirement Is "100 Percent for Real"
"He seems like he has a really great life,'" the #MDLNY agent said of Luis' departure from real estate.
Luis D. Ortiz shocked Million Dollar Listing New York fans when he revealed at the end of last season that he is saying goodbye to real estate. But since Luis was so good at his job and seemed to enjoy it so much in the past, it'd be natural to wonder if his retirement was actually just temporary.
However, that's not the case, according to Ryan Serhant, who told one caller during Wednesday night's Watch What Happens Live that Luis' departure from the industry "is 100 percent for real" (clip above). The MDLNY agent went on to say that, as Luis said "over and over and over" on the show, he left real estate because "he chose happiness."
And does Ryan think Luis has attained that so-called "happiness" now that he's out of the real estate business? "I think so," he told Andy Cohen. "He's been traveling a lot. I follow him online. He seems like he has a really great life."
Luis has indeed been keeping busy since leaving real estate. He went on an epic European vacation, reunited with Fredrik Eklund in Stockholm, and even grew a beard.
Luis revealed how he thought Ryan and Fredrik took the news of his retirement from real estate to The Daily Dish this summer. "I think they're not happy about it because I think we, as a trio, make such a good cast and I think the show is so successful because of the three of us together," he said. "I think they're bummed, but they're happy for me. Both of them are always going to have a special place in my heart. I give them both keys to two separate penthouses in my heart, south-facing [with] floor-to-ceiling windows. They'll always be a part of my life and I think as I actually go into an industry, I think we will now talk differently because we won't be rivals in real estate. We'll actually be happy to hear about each other's successes."
