It's not surprising that Shep Rose would have his friend Austen Kroll's back amid his relationship drama with girlfriend Madison LeCroy this season of Southern Charm. However, Shep's stance on how the couple has been handling their issues has raised a few eyebrows among the Charmers and fans alike.

Shep's criticism of Madison cheating in retaliation after Austen's alleged infidelity was caught on tape has had some saying he's got a double standard. Shep clarified his comments during his appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen on Wednesday night, explaining that the point he was trying to get across is that revenge cheating is never OK. "All right, let's say that someone had cheated on you, and you decided to stay together," he said (clip below). "That doesn't mean go out and have a ball."

Shep then went on to say that Madison's explanation of her cheating that she shared on WWHL on May 15 was not accurate. "She claimed that it was OK, that they had an understanding, and Austen fired in a tweet, and it wasn't OK. Nobody knew about it," Shep said. "I'm just saying, it's unseemly."

Madison addressed the negative comments Shep has made about her this season of Southern Charm during her appearance on WWHL. "I am not surprised," she said. "I think he's very bitter for some reason towards me, which is fine. It is what it is."

Austen provided some insight into the dynamic between Shep and Madison during an interview with The Daily Dish earlier this season. "They just don't get along. People don't really go up against Shep much," he explained. "A lot of people let a lot of things slide, but Madison does not. She's very like, 'You come at me, and I'll take your legs out from under you.'"
