The Real Housewives of Miami's Mama Elsa Has Passed Away
Marysol Patton's unforgettable mother passed away at the age of 84.
Elsa Patton, who was lovingly known as Mama Elsa, the mother of The Real Housewives of Miami cast member Marysol Patton, has passed away. She was 84.
Mama Elsa passed away over Mother's Day weekend, the Patton family confirmed to Page Six. “Our beloved Elsa Patton (AKA Mama Elsa) passed away over Mother’s Day weekend after a long illness. She was surrounded by her family and close friends," the Patton family said in a statement to Page Six.
With her hilarious one-liners, iconic style, and strong spirituality, Mama Elsa quickly became beloved by Bravo fans since the moment they first met her in Season 1 of RHOM. Over the course of three seasons, we saw Mama Elsa share some fun, emotional, and touching moments with Marysol and her fellow Miami Housewives.
Mama Elsa's passing comes just over a year after her husband of 50 years, Donald Patton, passed away in February 2018, the Patton family also said in their statement. She is survived by her two children, Marysol and Thomas Anthony Jones, her daughter-in-law Svetlana, and her grandson Hunter. "The family is so very grateful to the many fans and friends who have continued to ask for her and offer their prayers and best wishes,” the statement said. “They thank the community, her caretakers, and the many friends who have continued to check in on Elsa from all over the world. Their support has meant the world to the family.”
A private ceremony will take place in Miami on Friday, May 17, according to Page Six. “In lieu of tears the family asks you to raise a glass of good champagne in honor of Elsa’s memory," the Patton family said.
