Jasmine Ellis Cooper’s Jobs: This Budding Screenwriter Has a Lot to Write About

For screenwriter Jasmine Ellis Cooper, being a Playboy Club Bunny, actress, and part of the Bravoverse is all great material.

By Joe Dziemianowicz

It’s age-old advice: Write what you know. Screenwriter Jasmine Ellis Cooper knows that a summer share with a group of friends can get very eventful and just as emotional. That’s great material for a script!

How to Watch

Watch Summer House: Martha’s Vineyard on Sundays at 9/8c and next day on Peacock. Catch up on the Bravo app.

She experienced that first-hand when she appeared on Bravo’s constantly fun Summer House: Martha’s Vineyard. Expect a second round of moments to remember for her and her housemates when the show returns for Season 2 on Sunday, March 24 at 9pm ET/PT.

Jasmine will be surrounded by fellow returnees Nicholas “Nick” Arrington, Jordan Emanuel, Bria Fleming, Shanice Henderson, Amir Lancaster, Preston Mitchum, Summer Marie Thomas, and Alex TyreeNoelle Hughley joins the group as a friend.

This time around, Jasmine won’t be accompanied by her husband, Silas Cooper, who’s serving overseas in the military. But she arrives with “a big secret” and a desire to make this a “hot girl summer,” per her Bravo bio.

She met Jordan, Shanice, and Bria while they worked together as Playboy Club Bunnies but there are other ways Jasmine's career has kept her hopping.

Jasmine Ellis Cooper’s Jobs

Jasmine Ellis Cooper with her husband, Silas Cooper, celebrate Christmas together in front of a Christmas tree.

Born in the Midwest and raised in Atlanta, Jasmine, 32, notes that she’s a screenwriter and a history lover in her Instagram account.

She’s mined her personal history for writing projects and found a silver lining in a challenging life situation. That includes a summer she and her friend, Mariah Torres, had to live in a car in New York City, Cooper told Page Six's Reali-Tea podcast. The TV pilot, Rock Bottom, was a result of the experience.

"We just took a horrible situation and tried to share all the crazy, fun, explorative moments that we went through that genuinely all happened," she shared.

Currently, the project is listed on IMDb as in development. The co-authors hope that the work will inspire others who are struggling, with Jasmine saying, "My whole thing is just optimism and that life can get better no matter how far down you’ve come from."

And it will also inspire some laughs. Just take it from her husband Silas, who described it as "an amazing show. No bias!”

Cooper’s work experience also includes being on-camera. She has appeared in a few TV series, including Makeup X Breakup, about contemporary relationships; Random Acts of Flyness, a late-night sketch-comedy show; and the urban drama Giving Me Life (in the Land of the Deadass).

On Balancing Motherhood with Her Career

In addition to a burgeoning screenwriting career, Cooper’s family is expanding. She and Silas welcomed newborn son, Silas "Si" Geplay Cooper Jr. on Feb. 22. She’s looking forward to embracing her “mom era,” she told People. That includes nurturing her little one — and her writing talents.

It's really special to approach motherhood, knowing all the phenomenal stories centered around youth and children that are out there,” she told the magazine.

She continued, “I'm looking forward to getting my career out there, and my biggest hope is to continue to collaborate with people I want to work with, telling the stories I want to tell outside of Summer House: Martha's Vineyard, so I'm looking forward to balancing that with motherhood."
