Kyle Richards Opens Up About Going to Marriage Therapy with Mauricio Umansky

When Kyle went to visit Sutton's new horse, Santos, the two sat down together to discuss their respective personal lives. As Sutton talked about the demise of her marriage, Kyle revealed that she just started seeing a therapist with her husband.

"We're going to therapy now," Kyle told Sutton. "We're going together. What I have learned in therapy is that we've really been working a lot, taking on a lot, and that's really created so much time apart."

As she said, when the two first got married, their finances were very different.

"You know, we started out with nothing..." she said. "It's a lot of change."

When Sutton noted that both parties would need to make "some sacrifices" in order to make the marriage work, Kyle admitted that Mauricio would "never not work."

"I've made sacrifices and compromises," Kyle explained in an interview on the episode. "I've been a really good wife and a great mom, and I've supported him through everything. I want to feel that Mau is prioritizing me as much as I have him all of these years."

"Now, I have the freedom to be able to do some things for me, and I like it...." she concluded. "It just feels good to be independent."

Mauricio Umansky Talks to Kyle Richards About the "Tough" Year in Their Marriage

Later on in the episode, Mauricio and Kyle spent some much-needed quality time together in their home. She opened up to her husband about their "challenging" last year, and how they've needed to improve when it comes to communication.

Mauricio said that he's been having "fun" meeting with their couples' therapist, Jamie. When Kyle called out using the word "fun," Mauricio explained that it's been cathartic for him to talk things out with the therapist.

"We've gone through a tough few months, a tough year, whatever you want to call it, right?" he said. "Having a session with him helps me be more in tune with myself."

He acknowledged that couple has had a particularly difficult year.

"All I'm saying is that this is helping us. I think we're in a way better place. A way better place, and we've been married for 27 years and we've never had so much going on in our lives," he shared. "It's become hard. Right? It's become really hard."

Though Mauricio has noticed a lot of improvements, Kyle isn't totally convinced yet.

"I'm not gonna stay in a situation that I'm not happy in," Kyle expressed in an interview on the episode. "The things that I wouldn't want my daughters to accept, I'm not going to accept for myself."
