Michael Vartan on His On-Screen Love Interest Drew Barrymore: She’s “Just a Really Sweet Person”
Before playing a creepy dude in The Arrangement, he was making us swoon in the rom-com Never Been Kissed.
There's no doubt that Michael Vartan's role on E!'s drama, The Arrangement, is a complete 180 from his time spent as the hard-to-resist English teacher in Never Been Kissed. These days, Michael spends his time on the small screen as the mysterious and definitely creepy Terrence Anderson (more on the series, above). Although, we may always see him as Josie Geller's (played with ease and brilliance by Drew Barrymore) ultimate crush, Sam Coulson.
And if you thought their chemistry was only reserved for their on-screen personas, as Michael once explained to The Daily Dish he definitely had mad respect for Drew when the cameras weren't rolling either. "I'll tell you a funny Drew story. The first day she showed up on that job, she showed up in a 1970s beat-up white Volvo and I was like 'I like that girl. [She's] down-to-earth, salt-of-the-earth. No nonsense with her. [She's] just a really sweet person."
Which brings us to present day. Since it's been almost 20(!!) years since the flick his theaters back in April 1999, we were wondering if Michael thinks that Josie and Sam had any staying power.

"Well, I mean, I think we'd be age appropriate, at least," he said, referencing the movie's storyline about how Sam fell for Josie thinking she was his high school student when, in fact, she was actually an undercover reporter. "I mean, she's still younger than me, but yeah maybe I'd be the janitor and she'd be the principal of the school. I guess I'd still be a teacher. Maybe I'd have a tie now, like a little cloth tie. I have no idea. I haven't spoken to Drew in years, but she's done well for herself. She's doing OK."
