Meghan Markle Learned Farsi in High School to Flirt with Nema Vand: "You Are So Beautiful"

Nema Vand hangs out with the Shahs of Sunset crew these days, but back in high school, he was friends with the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle!

“I grew up with her. We were friends for a long time,” Nema explained during the May 13 episode of the Reality Life with Kate Casey podcast, where he mentioned that Meghan, who is a year older than him, attended his high school’s sister all-girl’s school. 

Nema also shared that Meghan once went out of her way to learn something that would catch his attention. “We were at a party one time and she sat on my lap. She got nose-to-nose with me. For a 16-year-old guy, that is an emotional moment,” he said. “She said to me in Farsi, ‘You are so beautiful,’ I asked her, ‘How do you know Farsi?’ She said, ‘I learned it for you.’ Then she walked away.” 

“She knew what she was doing. She toyed with our hearts masterfully,” said Nema, adding, “Everyone was in love with her. She was sweet and very kind.” 

In an Instagram post, Nema elaborated on the anecdote, writing, “My 16 year old heart has never been the same. OK, but on the real, I rarely speak about MM, but she was an incredibly sweet and kindhearted friend even waaaayyy back in HS.”

Nema went on to describe Meghan’s character, saying she was "nice to absolutely everyone when she didn’t have to be, which is not always the case for teens. Hopefully she’ll enjoy this innocent trip down memory lane.”
