The Real Housewives of Atlanta couple Nene Leakes and Gregg Leakes protested over the weekend as citizens and activists continue to demonstrate in support the Black Lives Matter movement and against police brutality following the death of George Floyd after a police officer kneeled on his neck when he was arrested on May 25 in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
The couple headed out and joined other protesters with homemade signs to have their voices heard. Nene also explained why it was important for them to protest despite some health concerns.
"My hubby and I both was afraid to comprise our immune system considering his past cancer and the blood clots I had in my lungs! However Gregg really felt he wanted to get out and try for a few and let everyone know that no matter what, we stand loud and proud!" Nene shared on Instagram along with photos from the protest. "Black Lives Matter and it has ALWAYS mattered. Thank you to everyone out here in the hot sun protesting daily! We love you and support you."
Nene's RHOA co-stars Porsha Williams and Kandi Burruss will appear on an Instagram Live panel, Amplify Our Voices: An Open Dialogue on Being Black in America, hosted by Bravo and E!. Gizelle Bryant of The Real Housewives of Potomac will also appear on the event, hosted by Justin Sylvester, the host of E!’s Daily Pop!.
