Jackie Chan Gave the Oscars the Shot of Adorable It Desperately Needed
The Oscars honoree definitely didn't let his time in the spotlight go to waste.
The biggest names in movies gathered for Hollywood's most glamorous night on Sunday: the 89th Annual Academy Awards. Sure, A-list nominees like Emma Stone, Ryan Gosling, and Meryl Streep may have been among the most highly-anticipated attendees to see at the ceremony, but one man in particular really stole the show: the incomparable Jackie Chan.
Jackie was one of the four Hollywood movers and shakers to receive an honorary Oscar at the Governors Awards last November, which also honored film editor Anne V. Coates, casting director Lynn Stalmaster, and documentarian and director documentarian and director Frederick Wiseman. "I broke so many bones, finally this is mine," Jackie said in his acceptance speech, after being honored by the likes of Tom Hanks, Michelle Yeoh, and his Rush Hour co-star, Chris Tucker, during the ceremony.
Fast forward to Sunday night's awards show, and Jackie continued to make his Oscars moment count. The legendary actor and martial artist showed up on the red carpet with the cutest dates ever, two stuffed animal pandas wearing UNICEF pins. "My two baby boys. I'm the ambassador of pandas," Jackie told Ryan Seacrest during E! News' coverage of the Oscars red carpet. "After earthquake, they got hurt. I raised them. I have two pandas in China of my own."
Jackie walked the Oscars red carpet with two stuffed animal pandas, because why not?
Jackie also shared the best reunion of the night when he reunited with his Karate Kid co-star Taraji P. Henson on the red carpet.
Jackie had the loveliest run-in with Taraji on the Oscars red carpet on February 26, 2017.
Once inside the Dolby Theatre, Jackie had THE BEST reaction to Justin Timberlake's opening of the show with his Oscar-nominated song "Can't Stop the Feeling!"
We can't really tell if Jackie liked the performance or not, but that's kind of how we felt about it too, to be honest.
It was finally Jackie's time to shine when Vince Vaughn acknowledged the honorary Oscar winners during the ceremony, who were all seated toward the back of the Dolby Theatre. Jackie adorably had his stuffed animal pandas seated next to him right before he stood up to rapturous applause for the award.
After all of this awesomeness, we think Jackie deserves a front-row seat at the Oscars next year, don't you?
