Paris Hilton's 20-Carat Emerald Cut Diamond Engagement Ring Is Also Named Paris
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills niece has been wearing the sparkler since she got engaged in 2021.
Paris Hilton is an icon with plenty of iconic outfits, pairs of shoes, and pieces of jewelry over the years. But nothing else comes close to her engagement ring from now-husband Carter Reum.
When Paris and Carter first got engaged in February 2021, fans were aching to know everything there was to know about her sparkler. Who made it? How many carats was it?
And most importantly: when would she tie the knot and pair it with a band?
How big is Paris Hilton's engagement ring?
Paris' engagement ring is a total of 20 carats, according to a 2021 interview in The Knot with its designer Jean Dousset — who is the great-great-grandson of famed jeweler Louis Cartier.
It features three main stones: an emerald-cut diamond in the center with a baguette diamond on either side. There are many other trapezoid diamonds accenting it.
"I'm so obsessed with it … it has like 15 diamonds going around and then inside it has a 'P' with a sapphire," shared Paris during an On Air with Ryan Seacrest appearance in February 2021.
Dousset said he designed the ring in concert with Carter, based on classical and Art Nouveau styles. It was designed to evoke "the structure of the Grand Palais [des Champs-Élysées] in Paris," both because of Jean's heritage and the wearer's name.
In a video she posted of the design process in 2021, it was revealed that the ring itself is also named "Paris."
How much did Paris Hilton's engagement ring cost?
The one-of-a-kind ring designed by Paris' now-husband Carter and Cartier's great-great-grandson was estimated to cost around $2 million dollars, according to The Knot.
However, because the design is so unique, it's likely its true value is more.

"The one key element of this ring was that Carter was heavily invested so that he could add as much sentiment as possible in the idealization and crafting of the ring," Jean told The Knot in November 2021. "His focus was on how many details and personal touches, big and small, that he could add to the ring to represent how much he loves Paris."
Jean noted that there was another reason to base the ring's design on the Grand Palais des Champs-Élysées.
"Its vaulted glass ceiling was designed to draw the maximum amount of light when large crowds were gathered, as electricity had yet to be invented," he told The Knot. "The design [of the ring] is drawn from my desire to relegate the precious metal as a supporting role and maximize the ring's beauty from all points of view, so we used a special tension setting to align the diamonds seamlessly, without metal."
Who is Paris Hilton's husband Carter Reum?
Paris is married to venture capitalist Carter Reum, who was born in February 1981 and grew up in Wayne, Illinois. He graduated from Columbia University in New York in 2003.
"He's such a good man and he has so much going on for himself. He doesn't need my money. He doesn't need my fame. He doesn't want all of that," shared Paris during Season 1, Episode 1 of the Peacock series Paris In Love. "I've never had that."
"I grew super private and so, by design, I like to stay out of the spotlight," Carter shared in the episode, echoing his wife's sentiments. Still, he said that having his life on display is an "easy trade" for being with Paris, because he loves her so very much.
How did Paris Hilton get engaged to Carter Reum?
Carter originally proposed to Paris while on a private island vacation in February 2021 after the pair had been dating for about a year. They'd actually met around 15 years before they started dating.

There's no one I'd rather spend forever with… Here's to Love - the Forever Kind."
The couple got married on November 11, 2021 in Los Angeles.
