Porsha Williams Explains Why She's Ready to Be a Mom
"It's always been something that I've dreamt about," the #RHOA radio host said.
Porsha Williams pretty much floored Phaedra Parks when she revealed to her BFF that she is ready to be a mom. The revelation was especially surprising to Phaedra because Porsha didn't appear to have a guy in her life to help her make that dream a reality. But, Porsha said she was willing to take on motherhood, with or without a significant other around. She reiterated that sentiment when she recently stopped by The Daily Dish HQ.
"I'm ready to become a mom because I feel like it's just time. I've been through a lot and family has always been first for me," The Real Housewives of Atlanta radio host said. "It's always been something that I've dreamt about and I've always wanted. I just feel like I have a lot to give and why not do it while I can and while I've prepared for it. It's a conscious decision for me to not have had a child up until this point and so I'm actually planning for a child."
Porsha has been dating Todd Stewart, as we've seen this season on RHOA, but regardless of where that relationship goes in the future, Porsha is comfortable with raising a child on her own. "Deciding to be a single mom is not for everybody. I feel like the way it would look like for me to be a single mom is not the way it would look for some other people," she said. "I've made sure I have a great support system. I've worked very hard financially to secure a future for a child. It's just something that I want now. The decision of having a child and not really putting the man first is just where I am. I'm 35 years old and I know that God has the right guy for me — but if it's not until 40, 45 that's OK, but I don't want to wait that long to have a child while I can and while everything's jumping and bumping and ready to go. I'm ready to take advantage of it."
However, Todd, whom she had previously dated before rekindling a romance with him, has been sure to let Porsha know his true feelings on the matter. "When Todd first came back into my life it was great. [It was like], 'Oh my God, you were the love of my life then. I trust; I know you. You can be my baby daddy.' And then he turned that and he was like, 'You deserve to have a husband. You deserve to have a family. Let's start a relationship.' And we fell back in love from him wanting it so bad and then me also accepting it. I had to open myself back up to it," she said. "Throughout the season you'll see me kind of wrestle with if I'm going to concentrate on the man or am I just gonna go for what I want — 'cause we do have some bumps in our relationship."
