Porsha Williams has been active in her support of the Black Lives Matter movement, protesting in Atlanta in the wake of the deaths of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor earlier this year. However, The Real Housewives of Atlanta cast member admitted during a recent interview with EXTRA that getting involved in activism at this level has been "really hard." "I have a lot of emotional nights about it," she said.

Though Porsha said that her 1-year-old daughter, Pilar Jhena McKinley, motivates her to keep fighting for change, moments like being tear gassed during a recent protest in Atlanta, which she captured in a video on Instagram on June 1, have been discouraging. “That was just awful. It really was… It was disheartening to be out there and trying to be heard and wanted to send this powerful message that we are standing together in a visual way… And to be gassed felt like I was being silenced," Porsha recalled. "It was tough for me to go back out there after that. It was a bit traumatizing. But I'll tell you what it really taught me is that protesting is a real thing… You are definitely putting your life on the line.”

But Porsha said she knows it's important to keep up the fight. “I am a black woman and I'm always gonna be proud of that,” she said. “And I'm always going to stand… with my people against injustice.”

Porsha applauded other members of the RHOA family, including Nene Leakes, Marlo Hampton, and Kandi Burruss, for showing support for the cause at protests. “Listen, we understand we have represented Atlanta. And we're not gonna let them down," she said. "We are all doing something in our own way. Believe that. Atlanta Housewives has your back."

During her two-part conversation with comedian and activist W. Kamau Bell on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen: @ Home earlier this week, Porsha shared how she and her fellow Atlanta Housewives have put any of their differences aside to come together to fight for racial equality. “We definitely have to talk amongst ourselves and realize it’s definitely something that affects all of us as Black women," Porsha said. “It’s about us using our platform and not feeling ashamed to use our platform. A lot of people would be like, 'Oh they’re clout chasing,' or this or that. Those are just, again, things to shame people into not speaking out. I think we would be doing an injustice to our people not to band together and speak out and use our voices for what’s going on.”

Marlo organized a PSA to support the Black Lives Matter movement, featuring Porsha, Nene, Kandi, and several other Bravolebs, including RHOA's Cynthia Bailey and Mike Hill, Eva Marcille, and Tanya Sam; The Real Housewives of Potomac's Gizelle Bryant, Monique Samuels, Ashley Darby, Candiace Dillard Bassett, Robyn Dixon, Karen Huger, and Wendy Osefo; and Married to Medicine's Dr. Jackie Walters and Curtis Berry, Dr. Heavenly Kimes, Dr. Contessa Metcalfe and Dr. Scott Metcalfe, and Buffie Purselle.
