Porsha Williams Still Doesn't Remember Shamari DeVoe from High School
"Were we, like, friends?" The Real Housewives of Atlanta's Porsha Williams asked Shamari DeVoe.
Shamari DeVoe may be the newest Atlanta Housewife on the block, but she was well-acquainted with at least one of the Georgia Peaches long before joining The Real Housewives of Atlanta crew — or so she thought.
Shamari shared earlier this season of RHOA that she and Porsha Williams were classmates while growing up in Decatur, Georgia. However, Porsha doesn't seem to have the same recollection of their school years — namely, she has said that she actually doesn't remember going to school with Shamari.
So we thought we would get to the bottom of this when we had both Porsha and Shamari together in the same room for The Real Housewives of Atlanta Season 11 After Show. And, well, all of the time these two have spent together recently hasn't exactly jogged Porsha's memory. "I may not remember her from high school, elementary school, junior high, but when I tell you her group Blaque was my group. Oh, no, no, no, trust me. I didn't know you in school, but I rooted for you because you went to my school," Porsha said (clip above). "And I was always like, 'Oh, that's Shamari! She went to my school!' Like, I bragged about you. Like, I loved your song 'Boom Like an 808,' like all of your music, I absolutely loved. And I was just so excited when you joined Housewives because I was like, I need another young, foxy, sexy Decatur girl here."
But don't think that Porsha's high praise is going to distract Shamari from the issue at hand. "You knew me from before; you were just trying to act like you didn't," she told Porsha during the After Show, to which the mom-to-be responded, "Were we, like, friends?"
Shamari clarified how they knew each other way back when. "We weren't friends," she explained. "We didn't, like, talk to each other or whatever, but we had mutual friends, and we've seen each other in passing."
Porsha then offered up a theory as to why she may not remember seeing Shamari at school. "It was more like, you know, you're just in close proximity to somebody through one person," she said. "I don't really have high school friends because my mom moved so much. I wasn't really able to form relationships."
But then again, Porsha, Shamari, and pal Shamea Morton were all on the drill team together. Porsha admitted she "slightly shaded" her friend by saying that she probably didn't see Shamea all the way in the back row. "It's the Housewife in me," Porsha said with a smile.
For the record, Shamari has very vivid memories of what Porsha was like in high school. "I just remember Porsha always had a big booty. I used to look at her like, 'Whoa, that's a nice little pop-out thing right there. She has a nice little melon,'" she recalled during an interview with The Daily Dish in January. "We were on the drill team together. I remember her just dancing and shaking it on down. Just stuff like that."
