Here’s How Ramona Singer Ended up in Self-Quarantine with Ex-Husband Mario
Luann de Lesseps offers some insight into the unexpected arrangement between the RHONY exes.
Ramona Singer raised eyebrows earlier this month when she revealed that she was self-quarantining with ex-husband Mario Singer. The former Real Housewives of New York City couple have been hunkering down in Florida with their daughter, Avery, during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, sharing family dinners and even hitting up a private beach. But that doesn’t mean that a reconciliation between the two is underway, as Ramona’s fellow NY Housewife Luann de Lesseps recently revealed.
Luann shared some insight into how exactly Ramona ended up self-isolating with her former spouse in a recent virtual interview with PEOPLE. As she explained, Ramona was traveling when the coronavirus first hit the United States and decided to head to Florida for some rest and recovery time following her recent Lyme disease diagnosis. As the pandemic worsened, Luann says Ramona ended up getting “stuck” there for the foreseeable future.
“She got stuck in Florida,” Luann said, also adding that Ramona maintains that her relationship with Mario is strictly platonic. “I spoke to her yesterday and she said, ‘There’s nothing going on, Lu. Mario and I are friends, and it’s been a very bonding thing for Avery.’” So I think she got stuck in quarantine with Mario, but I think she’s very happy. I think, you know, they’re really close.”
As for whether she has any doubts about Ramona’s explanation of their relationship, Luann says she believes her RHONY castmate is telling the truth. “She’s a serial dater right now, so she must be ready to come out of that quarantine,” she joked.
Ramona, for her part, has been using her time in self-isolation to “build up her strength” after being diagnosed with Lyme disease. “If I have to recuperate anywhere and build up my strength, this is the place,” she previously told Page Six of her ongoing stay in Florida.
