Andy Cohen Weighs In on Kim Zolciak’s Divorce: “I Was Very Surprised”
The WWHL host also confirmed that he “texted a little bit with Kim” once he heard the news.
The Real Housewives of Atlanta and Don’t Be Tardy fans weren’t the only ones who were “very surprised” when news broke that Kim Zolciak and Kroy Biermann were divorcing.
In case you need a refresher, on May 8, TMZ reported that the retired NFL player and the RHOA alum had split up after 11 years of marriage. The pair share three sons, Kroy “KJ,” Kash, and Kane, and a daughter, Kaia, and Kroy also adopted Kim’s daughters from previous relationships, Brielle and Ariana.
Andy Cohen weighed in on the split during a May 9 broadcast of his SiriusXM show, Radio Andy, revealing that he thought the two were really “in it for the long haul” in their marriage.
“I was very surprised,” he admitted about how he reacted to the breakup reports. “That was not the news I ever expected to get. They seemed so much in love and just together. I mean, they were a couple that, yeah, I thought they were in it for the long haul.”
The Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen host confirmed that he reached out to Kim after hearing about the divorce.
“Texted a little bit with Kim yesterday,” Andy added on his radio show, before revealing what he wrote to her. “[I] sent my condolences, because it’s a sad thing. They have kids, and that was just a couple [who] seemed very much in love.”
While Kim was filming Season 3 of RHOA in the spring of 2010, she met Kroy for the first time in front of the cameras at a charity dancing event. About a year later, they welcomed son KJ. The pair wed on November 11, 2011, and the lead-up to their nuptials was featured on Don’t Be Tardy for the Wedding. Their relationship and the births of son Kash and twins Kane and Kaia were highlighted on Don’t Be Tardy.
Before Kroy and Kim’s split was publicized, the mom of six made headlines for her memorable cameo in the RHOA Season 15 trailer. Find out more about her appearance on the show by watching the teaser trailer above.
