Kandi Burruss Just Received a Major Award
The RHOA cast member won a top prize at the 2022 GLAAD Media Awards.
Kandi Burruss is celebrating after a big win at the 2022 GLAAD Media Awards on May 6. The Real Housewives of Atlanta cast member received the award for Outstanding Broadway Production for her work as a co-producer on the groundbreaking Broadway play Thoughts of a Colored Man.
On May 7, Kandi took to Instagram to commemorate the huge honor, sharing several photos of herself posing with the award alongside the rest of the production team. “I was on the winning team last night! Thank you [GLAAD] for awarding [Thoughts of a Colored Man] with ‘Outstanding Broadway Production’!” she wrote in the caption of the pictures.
Kandi also shared a photo of herself striking a celebratory pose after the awards ceremony. “This is what #winning looks like!!!! Thank you [GLAAD] for a wonderful evening of community!” she wrote in the caption of the post.
Several Bravolebs took to the comments to congratulate Kandi on her major win. “Yesssss God is good!!! Ya’ll won! Huge congrats!! Soooo deserving,” RHOA’s Drew Sidora wrote, while Sanya Richards-Ross added, “Congrats!!!!!” Andy Cohen also chimed in with a series of clapping hand emojis.
This isn’t the only major career move Kandi has made lately. Earlier this month, she announced that she and her husband, Todd Tucker, will be joining the producing team of another Broadway play.
“It is a blessing and an honor for [Todd] and I to join the producing team of August Wilson’s The Piano Lesson,” Kandi wrote in the caption of her May 3 post, which featured a news article about her involvement in the play starring Samuel L. Jackson, John David Washington, and Danielle Brooks. She went on to add, “It’s a dream come true to work with this amazing all-star team [and] cast as we continue to push to diversify the Broadway audience.”
