Kandi Burruss Pays Tribute to Her Stepdad, Leroy Jones, Who Passed Away
The RHOA singer previously released a song in honor of Mama Joyce's former husband.
Kandi Burruss lost an important figure in her life over the weekend. The Real Housewives of Atlanta singer confirmed her stepfather, Leroy Jones, passed away on Saturday. Though she did not provide additional details, she did pay tribute to her stepfather, writing on Sunday, "My stepdad Leroy Jones meant the world to me [and] he passed yesterday. I love you Leroy! Thank you for all that you taught me!"
Along with the photo of her stepdad, she also posted the song she previously wrote about Jones, named after him, and how she was looking for a man to be in her life in a similar way to help her raise her daughter, Riley. The song was recorded before she married Todd Tucker and released on 2010's Kandi Koated.
The lyrics reveal how important he was to her and how involved he was in her life, even after his split from her mama, Joyce.
On it, she sings, "Let me tell you a story about a man named Leroy Jones. He loved my mother's children like they was his own. He was a role model, he was there for me. The first man to take on a shopping spree... And when they broke up, he was still around. Although they didn't work out, he didn't put us down. He came to my school plays, all my brother's games. And walked my down the field when I won this 10th grade."
In December, Kandi also lost one of her aunts, Hazel, who she later clarifies was not one of the aunts involved in the Old Lady Gang restaurant. At the time, she wrote, "She was never on RHOA. I have a really big family. My mom was the youngest of 14 siblings. There is only 5 of them left now."
