Mauricio Umansky Lets Us In on His Family’s New Year’s Tradition
The RHOBH husband and his wife, Kyle Richards, share how they rang in the new year.
The new year has officially begun, and Mauricio Umansky along with wife, Kyle Richards, knew just how to ring it in with their family's monumental tradition. The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills couple recently took to Instagram to share captures of their epic Aspen trip to kick off 2022, and to reveal how they celebrated the closing of the year.
"So it has become a tradition that we climb Highland Bowl on New Years," Mauricio wrote in the caption of his January 3 post, which featured a series of photos and videos from his ascent up the snow-covered mountain terrain in Aspen, Colorado, along with daughter, Alexia Umansky.
Mauricio explained the tradition of their annual hike, adding in the post, "This year we climbed 1/2/2022, it was an epic day. We make resolutions and seal them on the climb. What are some of your resolutions?" Kyle showed love for her husband and daughter's intense Aspen Highlands hike, commenting on the post with a series of heart emojis.
"Wow!" wrote RHOBH's Sutton Stracke in the comments, while Kyle's recently engaged eldest daughter, Farrah Aldjufrie, also commented with several heart eyes emojis.
Mauricio and Alexia both made sure to share moments from their snowy hike on their Instagram Stories, with Alexia capturing the beginning of their Highland Bowl hike, as well as highlighting the long, upward path to "the final destination" at the top of the mountain. "Thank you, dad," she wrote, alongside a heart emoji, on her Instagram Stories showing Mauricio holding her skis during the climb.
Mauricio also shared a fun video on his Instagram Stories of the father-daughter duo celebrating the completion of their climb. "Well, we did it," he said on his Instagram Stories, adding, in part, "Now we ski down. This is how we make sure we remember our new year resolutions."
In addition to taking on the snowy terrain, Mauricio also captured fun moments with Kyle as the pair enjoyed Aspen's winter weather outdoors with their dog, Storm. "We had a little photo session with Storm today," Mauricio captioned the adorable December 29 Instagram photos.
Kyle also revealed some of the family's warm and cozy moments indoors from their Aspen trip, sharing a video from RHOBH alum Teddi Mellencamp Arroyave of Teddi's rockstar dad, John Cougar Mellencamp, performing one of his hit songs in a room filled with friends and family, including Kyle, Mauricio, and Alexia.
"So the Cougs asked [Kyle] what her favorite part of being on Housewives was," Teddi wrote in the caption of the post, "She answered 'meeting your daughter'. He said he was so moved by that answer that he gave us a private performance. What a way to bring in 2022."
