Emily Simpson Reveals How She *Really* Feels About Gina Kirschenheiter's Friendship with Heather Dubrow
The RHOC cast member also gives an update on where she and Gina Kirschenheiter stand today.
Heather Dubrow became fast friends with Gina Kirschenheiter upon her return to The Real Housewives of Orange County in Season 16. And while there has been a lot of chatter about Shannon Storms Beador's opinions on the friendship, there has also been some speculation about Gina's longtime BFF Emily Simpson's feelings on the matter.
When Emily appeared on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen on March 9, one member of the virtual audience asked the OC Housewife, "Considering how much you bring it up, do you think you're the one who's maybe a little jealous of Gina and Heather's friendship instead of Shannon?"
Actually, Emily told the fan that was "a valid question." She then went on to clarify her feelings about Gina and Heather's friendship (clip above). "It really, honestly, didn't bother me," Emily explained, citing Gina and Heather's trip to New York featured in the March 9 episode of RHOC. "I'm in a really good place with Gina, as far as our friendship. And so, maybe two years ago it would've bothered me, but it doesn't now."
After striking up a friendship in their first season of RHOC, Season 13, Emily and Gina's relationship became strained in Season 14. However, they later hashed out their issues in the Season 14 finale and reunion, and their friendship has been solid ever since.
As for what Shannon really thinks about Gina and Heather's friendship, Emily said that she believes that FaceTime call to the pals during her dinner party in the March 9 episode of RHOC was pretty indicative of Shannon's true feelings. "I feel like there was definitely a sense of jealousy that Gina and Heather were hitting it off and the two of them were in New York," Emily said in The Real Housewives of Orange County After Show, below. "And so, Shannon clearly wanted to make it like we were having more fun. Like, we weren't missing out on their trip, and we were having more fun."
However, Shannon insisted that there was "no competition" happening that night. "Sounded like they were having tons of fun. Good for them. I'm glad they're having fun," she said in the RHOC After Show. "But let's have fun, too. Come on!"
