Lisa Hochstein Reflects on Lenny’s “Heartbreaking” Hot Mic Moment
The RHOM cast member shared she “did not know” what her now-ex said during the “Good Vibes” party until she watched the show.
Many viewers were shocked, to say the least, to see the moment when Dr. Lenny Hochstein told a friend he wanted to get a divorce on The Real Housewives of Miami Season 5 — and his wife, Lisa Hochstein, was one of them.
Lisa, who joined the cast for Season 2 back in 2012, married the plastic surgeon in 2009. The couple welcomed two kids via surrogate, Logan (7) and Elle (3), and they discussed the possibility of expanding their family again when the show returned on Peacock for Season 4 in 2021.
During a chat with The Daily Dish on December 13, Lisa shared that she had no idea Lenny had a hot mic moment at her “Good Vibes” party until she watched the episode back herself. Once she heard what he said about his desire to split up, she was devastated.
“It was so heartbreaking, and it made me so angry that he was just so cold about it,” Lisa explained about hearing for the first time what Lenny said to his friend, Vito, at the end of the fourth episode. “It didn’t seem like he cared at all; [there was] almost like hate in his voice. It wasn’t like, ‘Yeah, I feel bad, we’re maybe going to get a divorce.’ It was like, ‘Nope, can’t wait’ and that sort of thing. That was really hurtful, because I did not know.”
Looking back, Lisa can’t believe how different her life is now compared with the prior season.
“Just last season, he was asking for a third child,” she added. “How could this change so quickly? What happened from last season to now, where you want to leave me?”
Though the pair wasn’t in the best place when they hosted the now-infamous “Good Vibes” soirée, Lisa felt that marriage was meant to be filled with both “good days and bad days.” After all, the two had been together for more than 15 years. But she did start to notice certain things about her relationship when watching the show back.
“I didn’t see what the fans saw, or when it was happening before — I saw it on TV from last season, that he was super dismissive of me,” Lisa added. “Everyone said he checked out, and when I watched the footage, I could see that also. So that was hurtful, because when we were filming, or just being with him, I didn’t really feel that, and I’m not sure why. I just feel like we always have our ups and downs.”
Before Lenny asked for a divorce, the RHOM cast member said she had been trying to “fix our marriage, or just make it better, and just bring us back to where we were before.” On the first few episodes of Season 5, fans can see when Lisa hosted a Shabbat dinner for Lenny, their kids, and his mother, and when she hired a chef to cook for a date night at home.
“I was trying to make that really special,” she said. “Just his attitude towards me was shocking to see when I was watching [it] back.”
