No, Dorinda Medley Is Not Changing Her Stance on Marrying John Mahdessian
The RHONY radio host has no plans to wed for a third time.
Dorinda Medley is a woman who stands by her statements — and that means not backtracking on comments she made regarding marriage and her future with longtime boyfriend John Mahdessian. On The Real Housewives of New York City this season, Dorinda shared that she has no plans to marry again (clip above), and while she later said John was "a little hurt" by her comments, as she told Page Six, she has a stance and she isn't changing it.
"Marriage is for the young! Listen, I've been married, divorced, married, widowed, okay? I've sort of seen it, done it. I just think at this point in my life, it's more about having someone you trust and love and a wonderful companion. I don't know if it's necessary -- without children and without all of those sort of old-world ideas of marriage — to have to formalize it in that way," she recently told TooFab.
Dorinda was married twice before, and she told TooFab that despite not walking down the aisle with John, "I probably am more married to John in a lot of ways than most people."
She added she and her boyfriend of seven years have "a healthy relationship. It's a unique relationship — it doesn't follow all the guidelines of a typical relationship — but it works for us, and we're happy. At 54, I personally don't feel like [marriage] is something I need to do... Believe me, I know a lot of married people that are less happy than John and I."
