Whitney Rose Makes a Big Decision as Part of Her Journey with the LDS Church
See The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City cast member take the step with her husband by her side.
Whitney Rose is officially saying goodbye to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on tonight's all-new episode of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City.
The process begins in this sneak-peek clip as Whitney explains that she actually meant to finalize the separation weeks before — but there was just one problem. “It’s funny because I was so excited to sign the letter,” she says, “that I failed to read the fine print that it had to be notarized.”
Whitney made sure to secure a notary this time around, but she’s still upset over how “hard” the disaffiliation process can be. “If they can keep you, there’s a chance they can reactivate you, which means you’ll start paying 10 percent of your income again,” Whitney says. “I think it’s all about money and power and control.”
As RHOSLC fans are well aware, Whitney has long been open about her journey with the LDS church. In fact, after the show’s series premiere, Whitney took to Twitter to clarify how her initial exit from the church played out.
“Contrary to what one of my cast mates stated, I WAS NOT EXCOMMUNICATED from the Mormon church,” Whitney wrote. “I chose to walk away.”
She continued her clarification in another tweet, adding, “Although I no longer identify as a Mormon, I still have a deep love and admiration for all of my Mormon friends and family.”
