As they reflected on Season 2 of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, during which Taylor’s husband, Russell Armstrongpassed away, Brandi made a comment that caught Taylor off guard. “That season I came on was the worst time of my life, like honestly,” Brandi said, later elaborating in an interview that, in addition to Russell’s death, she was also going through her divorce from Eddie Cibrian at the time.

Taylor shared her reaction to Brandi’s statement in an interview during the episode. “This is actually unbelievable that she would be looking me in the eyes and saying that that is a really, really tough year for her,” she said. “Cry me a river.”

When Brandi made a similar statement during dinner that night with the rest of the group, sharing, “I literally, on my life, had the worst year of my life that season,” her RHUGT castmates were also shocked and confused by her comment.

Jill Zarin, who arrived at Bluestone Manor the day after this went down, shared what she thought after watching the episode when she appeared with Brandi on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen on June 29. “I don’t think that she was thinking about what Taylor was going through,” Jill said. “I think she was talking about how she was feeling, and I’m OK with that.”

Brandi then clarified her comments. “[Respectfully], I’m not saying that her year wasn’t even worse; I’m saying that I can also have… you can’t negate the fact that that’s my bad year too,” Brandi explained on WWHL. “But hers was way worse.”

In an interview with Us Weekly earlier this month, Taylor recalled being left “kind of speechless” during this conversation with Brandi on RHUGT. “I couldn’t believe that she was actually saying that that was like the hardest year of her life after everything that I went through and my daughter went through — I was just really taken aback,” she shared. “I never saw that coming. She didn’t have a relationship with Russell. And so I still am shocked actually, as you can tell.”

Taylor also opened up about her dynamic with Brandi that we will see play out more as this season of RHUGT continues. “You’re gonna see some ups and downs with us, and I think that we have such a long history that there are some tensions,” Taylor told Us Weekly. “But also, in some respects, we have a bit of a family feeling with one another, so it’s almost like fighting with your sister.”

Taylor previously reflected on those early seasons of RHOBH with Jill in Housewife to Housewife, including how she changed after watching herself on TV with Russell. Watch Taylor and Jill’s full conversation, above.
