Ricky Martin Will Play Versace's Longtime Partner in American Crime Story
The singer has been cast in the third installment of Ryan Murphy's series.
We’ve certainly missed Ricky Martin since his “La Vida Loca” days, but it looks like the singer-turned-actor will be teaming up with Ryan Murphy for the upcoming season of American Crime Story, in which he is set to play Versace’s longtime partner Antonio D’Amico.
Versace will be somewhat of a reunion for Ryan and Ricky, who worked together on Glee back in the day.
Rumors about the cast have been swirling since Ryan announced the theme of the third season of the anthology series, but Deadline has more recently confirmed the lineup.
Lady Gaga, who for a time seemed like an uncanny incarnation of the Donatella herself, seemed an obvious pick for some role in the mini-series. However, the part of Lady Versace ultimately went to Penelope Cruz. Edgar Ramirez and Darren Criss also joined the cast as Gianni Versace and murderer Andrew Cunanan, respectively. The 10-episode series will tell the story of the untimely demise of fashion mogul Gianni Versace as explicated in the book Vulgar Favors by Vanity Fair writer Maureen Orth. Production is set to begin in Miami later this month, according to Yahoo.
Versace: American Crime Story will air in 2018, after what is sure to be a controversial second season of the show, which will tell the story of Hurricane Katrina from multiple viewpoints.
Ryan recently sat down with Andy Cohen to discuss the much-anticipated election-themed season of American Horror Story but kept slightly more tight-lipped about some of his other projects.
