Emilia Bechrakis is loving her new life as a mom, and she couldn’t do it without husband Ryan Serhant. That’s biologically true, of course, but also in a more emotional sense, as Emilia revealed on Instagram recently.
The Million Dollar Listing New York mom recently shared an Instagram tribute to her husband, thanking him for everything that he did for her as the couple got ready to welcome their first child. “To my Puff monkey @ryanserhant. Thank you for coming to every [doctor’s] appointment this [past] year. For giving me shots every night for weeks upon weeks. For crying with me, for snuggling me, for reassuring me, for giving me courage. Thank you for telling me I’m beautiful every day even when it was questionable. Thank you for rubbing my belly at night while you were sleeping. For tying my shoes and letting me borrow your clothes. Thank you for watching the entire birth of our baby and still thinking I am hot. Thank you for being the best swaddler-diaper changer-baby whisperer ever,” Emilia gushed in the post, which featured a couple of lovely photos of her and Ryan. “Thank you for chasing after me all those years ago until I said yes..Thank you for a life [and] love I could only dream of. Thank you for working SO HARD for our family. But most of all thank you for the GREATEST GIFT OF MY FREAKING LIFE.”
Emilia and Ryan, who wed on July 7, 2016 in Greece, welcomed their first child, daughter Zena, on February 26. The couple shared that they were trying to start a family in Season 7 of MDLNY. However, it proved to be more challenging than either of them anticipated.
In fact, Ryan revealed in his announcement of Zena’s birth on Instagram that his and Emilia’s journey to become parents was almost a three-year-long process. He also shared that the couple had ultimately decided to undergo IVF in order to conceive. "When we finally decided to try IVF, we were so scared it wouldn’t work. And then you stuck. And then we heard your little heartbeat for the first time,” Ryan wrote in the post. “Your mom and I were so excited every time we would go to the hospital to see you, but even more terrified we would lose you. Because the fact that we were pregnant - as beautiful as it was - was almost too good to be true. And because of that fear, we loved you as hard as we could from the moment we knew you existed. We thought if we put that love for you out there, you would hear it, and you would make it.”
Emilia also opened up on Instagram about the “long, painful journey” she experienced to become a mom. She shared in another post that she and Ryan kept the pregnancy so private because of all the challenges the couple were facing along the way. "I felt such a need to be private about my pregnancy on social media because I had so many ups and downs. I found the anxiety overwhelming," Emilia explained. "But through all the fears, scares, sickness, and aches, I loved every moment. Even the hardest moments. Every kick, every hiccup, every heartbeat, every ultrasound visit..."
Now that Emilia and Ryan have brought Zena home, they’ve also begun to realize that taking care of a newborn has its highs and lows, too. “We still have our days & nights backwards...sweet Lord why are newborns calm and quiet in the day time and at night they scream bloody murder eek… #newmom,” Emilia captioned an adorable photo of Zena sleeping on Instagram.
But after going through a pregnancy like this, we know Ryan and Emilia will be able to get through anything.
