Ariana Madix Still Wants to Be Friends with Mike Shay After His Split from Scheana Shay

Everyone knows that Scheana Shay and Ariana Madix are the two best friends that anyone could ever have. But Ariana was also extremely close to Scheana's now-ex-husband, Mike Shay, recently telling The Daily Dish that he was "one of my best guy friends, if not my best guy friend." 

So when Ariana first heard the news that Scheana and Shay announced their plans to divorce last November, she wanted to comfort Shay as much as her BFF. "The day that I found out that Scheana and Shay were definitely filing for divorce, I was in New Zealand, and I saw it on the Internet, of all things, and so I texted him just to lend him my support and tell him that I love him and tell him that I care about him. I'm always here," Ariana recently told The Daily Dish. 

Unfortunately, Ariana said that she didn't hear back from Shay until about a month or two later after he had changed his phone number. "So for a while there, we were definitely not in touch," Ariana said. "I think in the end, it makes a lot of sense and I understand why, and I definitely don't fault him for that."

So when Shay arrived at the Vanderpump Rules reunion, it was an emotional reunion for not only Scheana but also the entire crew. "Scheana and Shay at the reunion was very intense. And it was actually really intense, I think, for a lot of us. I mean, it was very intense for me as well," Ariana said. "So I think that you will see on the reunion a lot of really tense moments between not just Scheana and Shay, but Shay and himself and Shay and the rest of the group. I mean, I had a lot of questions because I hadn't talked to him in months. Lisa had questions. Obviously, Andy [Cohen] had questions; it's his job. But I think that Scheana was very emotionally overwhelmed." 

Still, Ariana said she is hopeful that she and Shay could continue to be friends in the future, even if it might be a little different now that he and Scheana are no longer married. "I would really like to be be able to have a friendship with Shay moving into the future. I understand it's definitely not gonna be what it was," Ariana said. "But I just want him to know always that I love and care and support him and his happiness. And I think that them not being together is probably better for both of them."
