Mark Your Calendars: Shep Rose's Palace Hotel Will Open Sooner Than You Think
The #SouthernCharm pal has some big news for Charleston locals looking to party.
Get your tabs open: The Palace Hotel will soon open its doors again. The Charleston hangout is set to open again next week following a fire in January 2016, Shep Rose, who co-owns the bar, confirmed to The Daily Dish.
"Oh, it's opening up next week. I had nothing to do with it. Nobody ever wants my help," the Southern Charm star shared in jest with us this week. "It's offered, though. It's on the table."
It's been a long path back to business as usual for the Palace Hotel. Following a fire in the building where the bar is located last January, Charleston was then hit by Hurricane Matthew last October, delaying the opening a bit more. Last November, Shep told us, "The hurricane came and there was a foot-and-a-half of water on the floor, which just kind of definitely pushed things back. So, we were close then this damn hurricane [came along]."
He also cited all the red tape as being a major factor in the delay. "Honestly, I don't understand," he shared then. "I know a lot of it is predicated upon the owner of the the building and the apartments upstairs that were damaged from the fire and inspections, just so many moving parts. And it's very frustrating and I wish I could wave a wand, but I can't. But, it will be back. I just know it. And when it comes back, I just think the whole town will rejoice because it was a real local favorite and had a real great quality, a very authentic place and had a great little niche in Charleston. So, anyway, it's all good."
Now Shep is ready for folks to come by and have some fun. This week, he revealed if anything will be different about the bar. "Same old, same old, man. I love that place. [It's] so great," he said. "It's belly up to the bar, first date stuff."
